For the first time since 2019, the Fresno State baseball team took home both the Player and Pitcher of the Year honors in the Mountain West Conference.
The Diamond ‘Dogs had four players honored with All-Mountain West First Team selections with two players earning the top conference honor.
Pitcher Aidan Cremarosa was named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Year while third baseman Murf Gray was named the Tony Gwynn Player of the Year, sharing the honor with Dean Toigo from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).
Cremarosa finished with a 6-5 record and a 4.01 ERA. He also struck out 97 batters, the second most in the conference only behind teammate Jack Anker. The junior started the most games in the conference at 15 and his .242 opposing batting average was the third-best in the Mountain West.
Cremarosa pitched his first career complete game against San Jose State on May 10, striking out six Spartan batters en route to a 10-0 shutout win. His career performance earned him his third Mountain West Pitcher of the Week award of the season.
Gray finished the season with a .329 batting average, the best on the team, and also led the Bulldogs with 73 hits. Gray had the second-most RBIs in the conference with 65 and the second-most home runs with 17. The Junior third baseman had a stretch of six consecutive conference games in which he hit a home run.
Gray shares the Tony Gwynn Player of the Year with UNLV right fielder Dean Toigo.
Catcher Justin Stransky and pitcher Jack Anker also earned conference first team honors.
Stransky finished the season near the top of multiple statistics for the Bulldogs. He was second on the team with a .326 average, had the second-most hits with 70 and the third-most RBIs at 42.
The senior catcher threw out the second-most runners in the conference at 17 and led the Mountain West with 451 putouts.
Additionally, Stransky was named a semifinalist for the 2025 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year aAward. He is one of 13 semifinalists from schools across the country. The Buster Posey Award Ceremony will be held on June 26.
Anker led the Mountain West with 100 strikeouts, 83.1 innings pitched and eight wins. He finished the season with an 8-4 record, 5.94 ERA and was named conference Pitcher of the Week twice.
The Diamond ‘Dogs now look to the Mountain West Tournament, where they are the No. 2 seed and clinched a first-round bye.
The Bulldogs will play the No. 6 seed San Jose State Spartans, who took down the No. 3 seed New Mexico Lobos on May 21. The quest for back-to-back conference titles starts May 22 with first pitch set for 6:05 p.m. from Sloan Park in Mesa, Arizona.
