The Fresno State women’s golf team ended its fall season with a third-place finish in the Clash at Boulder Creek.
The trip to Nevada was a success, filled with team records and personal bests.
The team finished the three-day tournament with a new program low of 22-under.
Vunnisa Vu led the way for the Bulldogs again. After finishing T19 in her last tournament, Vu came back even better, claiming her first ever collegiate tournament win.
Vu started off the tournament with an opening round 66. Her 6-under first round placed her in a tie for first with teammate Motoko Shimoji after the first day.
Vu backed the opening round with scores of 68 and 67 in her route to victory. She finished with a score of 15-under which tied the program record for lowest 3-round score.
After a disappointing second round 77, Shimoji fired a closing round 71 to get her to 2-under on the tournament. Shimoji’s performance placed her tied for 25th, which was her best finish of the season.
Amelia Garibaldi had a solid performance with two rounds under par. Garibaldi finished tied for 14th with a total score of 5-under.
The Bulldogs will have to wait until February for their next tournament. They will open up their spring season on Feb. 10 at the San Diego State Classic.
