Last Monday, the Chancellor’s Office invited California State University campus newspapers to partake a phone conference to discuss a 9 percent tuition increase for the fall semester while reducing additional student services.

Following the trend of the last few years, Fresno State is implementing yet another budget cut for the 2011-12 fiscal year, with students and teachers seeing the largest effects. According to associate vice president of financial affairs Clint Moffitt, Fresno State’s budget is being cut by just less than $6 million for the fiscal year.

The California State University Board of Trustees approved a mid-year increase of five percent — or $105 - for 2010-11 that will go into effect Jan. 1, 2011. In addition, the Trustees adopted a 10 percent - or $444 - annual increase for the 2011-12 academic year that would become effective for fall 2011.
