The Bulldogs men’s golf team maintained its second place standing by shooting a combined 294 in the Western Athletic Conference Championships Tuesday at Crane Creek Country Club in Idaho.

Fresno State, with its score of 15 over par, trails leader New Mexico State by two strokes heading into the final round.

“We got off to a very good start this morning but ended up giving away a lot of strokes at the end,” head coach Mike Watney said in a press release.

Brian Kelley shot an even 71 and is presently in third place with a total of 143.

Kelley’s second round performance included one eagle, two birdies and a bogey on the front nine. He trails the leader in the individual standings by one stroke.

Among his teammates, Jason Anthony is currently tied for sixth place with a score of 146 and Matt Shaw is tied for ninth. Jonny Rosa’s 148 qualifies him for 15th place while Ryan McDonald is tied for 25th.

Host Boise State moved to third place and is three strokes behind Fresno State.

The Bulldogs will tee off on Wednesday at 8:40 a.m. for the final round of play.
