Fresno State (22-6, 14-2) vs. New Mexico State (8-19, 5-11)

Point Guard

The reigning Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Mirenda Swearengin, will not face anyone near her talent level, assuming the Bulldogs make the finals against expected opponent Louisiana Tech. Swearengin is coming off of a 4 for 13 shooting night. She will expect to perform better in the postseason.

The Aggies have six core players who receive most of the minutes. Irma Kmitaite will likely start opposite of Swearengin, and will need to bring her best defensive and offensive game to even stay on the same level as Swearengin.

Guards

Fresno State head coach Adrian Wiggins showed his loyalty to the team by starting all of the seniors. Toni Atherley and Angelica Lopez both earned starts at guard and played a combined 8 minutes. Tierre Wilson and Chantella Perera both came off the bench on fire for the Bulldogs, combining for 30 points against Nevada. Similar production against the Aggies will easily get Fresno State to the next round.

Monique Bribiescas is a solid threat from the floor. She is one guard that the Bulldogs will have to lock up and keep from having a big game.

Post

Brittani Green has brought her offensive game to the court lately. Against Utah State, Green scored 15 points and added another 8 points Saturday against the Wolf Pack. Regardless of who the opponent is, Amy Parrish is going to dominate. In the last 16-point victory against the Aggies, Parrish went off for 24 points and six rebounds. Similar production can be expected for Wednesday’s match-up.

Jenean Ford is a real force to be reckoned with. She can rebound, score and gets to the line. Stopping Ford would likely assure a victory for the Bulldogs.
