Internship and summer job fair today

Staff Reports
The Collegian

It’s that time of year, the semester is going by faster than you expected and it’s time to look for a summer job.

Have no fear, Career Services thinks ahead, even when you do not.

The Internship and Summer Job Fair is today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Satellite Student Union.

Aleta Wolfe, career counselor, said this is the center’s general job fair. Students from all majors will find work that interests them.

“It is a big mixture of technical, ag and business — all majors,” Wolfe said.

Some of the companies attending this year’s fair are Southern California Edison, California Highway Patrol and Kings River Expeditions.

“This is a great opportunity where students do not have to go online and submit a resume online to a computer,” Wolfe said.

She said this a great opportunity because employers come to the students to meet face to face and share information.

While some of the more specific job fairs, such as Craig School of Business Job Fair are more formal Wolfe said the Internship and Summer Job Fair is a little more flexible is terms of dress. Wolfe recommends students still dress nicely if possible, but employers understand students are also attending classes.

Wolfe said students should be ready to speak about themselves. “Bring resumes and be prepared to speak with the employers, give them a thirty second commercial,” she said.

“This is really a good chance to walk across campus, bring resumes and get a job.”
