Months of hard work and practice
will finally be revealed Sunday as the Fresno State horn section presents
a special performance in the Wahlberg Recital Hall.
The performance will feature solos from 11 students and a horn choir finale.
“These students have been preparing for this since the beginning
of the semester,” said horns instructor Thomas Hiebert. “We
have some talented performers. I think people are really going to be impressed.”
The students will be performing pieces that reflect different styles of
music from classical horn literature to jazz tunes.
“I’ll also be performing a double horn concerto with one of
my students,” Hiebert said. “And my wife, Lenore, will be
accompanying some of the horn solos on the piano. She also teaches at
Fresno State.”
The horns studio performances are held at least once a year and often
once a semester. Hiebert said they’re designed to showcase the students’
talent and hard work.
“I think the audience will like the finale,” Hiebert said.
“Eleven talented students all playing together creates quite an
impressive sound. I think people will really enjoy it.”
The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. and admission is free.
