Dean campaign first to visit Fresno State

Campaigners for Howard Dean hit Fresno State Tuesday with a message for students: Dean cares about young Americans.

Dean wants to create more jobs and give young people a sense of hope said Dr. Daljit Singh, professor of political science.

“ His message is to invest in America, not in war,” Singh said.

Ron Harben, a Vietnam veteran working the valley campaign, said Dean is the most qualified candidate due to his health and environmental experience, as well as his track record with balanced budgets.

Singh said a Dean presidency would do wonders for California.

Dean would reshuffle the national budget, Singh said, and reduce the focus on defense spending, which he said played a large role in the creation of the current deficit.

“He would bring California back to an economic upswing,” he said.
