Craig School of Business replaces deanFormer associate dean takes job on interim basis Karen Dill Bowerman has been named interim dean of the Craig School of Business for the 2003-2004 academic year. She replaces Fred Evans, who accepted a position at California State University, Northridge. Bowerman comes to the position with five years experience as the associate dean of the Craig School and more than 20 years as a faculty member of the Department of Management. “ I feel extremely lucky to be involved in the school at this time,” Bowerman said. “The Craig School has made exceptional progress in the last few years and I look forward to being a part of its continued success.” Bowerman said that one of her first priorities is the appointment of an interim associate dean—a task that she hopes to accomplish by next week. She added that state budget cutbacks will be her greatest challenge in the upcoming year and that she is dedicated to finding ways to decrease teaching loads so faculty members can continue to research and publish. “ We were the third public institution in California to become accredited,” Bowerman said. “It is absolutely essential that our long-time accredited status is not threatened by cutbacks.” She sees expanded partnerships with the Fresno business community as one of the most exciting and potentially successful endeavors of the Craig School this year. Bowerman earned her doctorate in administration from the Texas A & M and has achieved national lifetime accreditation as a senior professional in human resources. |
