Suspect charged with possession of narcotics, arrested in Kerman

Fresno County district attorney’s office charged Anthony Gomez Altorre Tuesday with possession of controlled substances, among other charges.

“ He is no longer a threat to the university,” said Mike Dunlap, Fresno State chief of police.

The district attorney’s office would not disclose the other charges Altorre faces.

According to Corporal Gilbert Washington of the Fresno State police department, Altorre, 48, was arrested Thursday morning in Kerman by the Fresno County sheriff’s department.

Washington stated that Altorre has been charged with multiple offenses, which include stalking, making criminal threats and possession of narcotics.

He was wanted by the police under suspcision of making threats that could cause bodily harm. He was also said to have alluded to wanting to die by “suicide-by-cop.”

Altorre’s bail has been set at $1 million.
