The Fresno State women’s basketball team clinched the No. 7 seed in the Mountain West Tournament. The Air Force Academy had a chance to leap the Bulldogs with a win against the San Diego State Aztecs. The ‘Dogs will play the No. 10 seed University of Nevada, Reno Wolf Pack.
In the regular season, the ‘Dogs swept the Wolf Pack.
In the first meeting, the Bulldogs were led by Emilia Long as she scored 22 of the Bulldogs’ 54 points. No other player had over eight points.
The win in Reno marked Head Coach Ryan McCarthy’s first road conference victory.
In the second meeting, the ‘Dogs took home a 20-point victory, winning 71-51. Long again led the ‘Dogs in scoring, with 23 points, but Jaisa Gamble, Danae Powell and Morelia Chavez joined Long with double-digit point efforts.
As a team, the ‘Dogs shot 59% from the field in the victory.
The Bulldogs enter the tournament having lost their last four games.
Tipoff for the Bulldogs’ first-round matchup against the Wolf Pack is set for March 7 at 5 p.m. at the Thomas and Mack Center.
