Griffen Sotomayor led the ‘Dogs with a 3-for-4 performance which included two home runs.

BJ Rodriguez was able to strike out five batters in four innings of relief.

The Diamond ‘Dogs will be back tomorrow for the second game of this series against the Wolf Pack. First pitch is set for 3:05 p.m.

Jett Ruby singled up the middle, marking his second hit of the night.

The Bulldogs weren’t able to spark a comeback, losing 9-4 in their first conference matchup of the season.

Nevada left fielder Lee Matsuzaki opened up the eighth inning with a towering home run to right field, marking his second home run of the night.

After allowing another run, Rodriguez was pulled from the game. He went four innings, allowing two runs but struck out five batters.

Right hander Jordan Haver was called into the game in relief with runners on first and second with one out.

A wild pitch and an error allowed the Wolf Pack to add two more runs.

After getting out of the top of the inning, the Diamond ‘Dogs weren’t able to get on base, going down in order.

The Wolf Pack lead 9-4 heading into the top of the ninth.

The Wolf Pack left one runner on base to end the top of the seventh inning.

After the seventh inning stretch, the Bulldogs couldn’t get anything going.

With two outs, Brady Hewitt singled to left field before being picked off at first base.

BJ Rodriguez will step back onto the mound in the top of the eighth inning still down one run.

Rodriguez continued his effort in relief, striking out three batters in the top of the sixth inning.

The Wolf Pack made a pitching change in between innings, bringing in right hander Aidan Brainard.

Despite the change of arms, Sotomayor continued his successful night with a single up the middle. This was Sotomayor’s third hit of the night.

Brainard then hit Sky Collins putting runners on first and second with no outs.

After two straight outs, designated hitter Jett Ruby knocked a base hit into left field driving in Sotomayor despite a close play at the plate.

The umpires then reviewed the play confirming the call, giving the ‘Dogs their first run since the third inning.

Marcus Nolen struck out swinging to end the inning.

The Wolf Pack now lead 5-4 after six innings.

The Bulldogs fell 9-2 at home to the Aggies Friday night as self-inflicted wounds were the Bulldogs’ demise.

The Bulldogs ended the night with more errors (five) than hits (four) in their conference opener loss.

The Bulldogs got off to a fast start, scoring two runs in just three batters. However, after the first inning rally, their offense mustered just one hit the rest of the way.

Bulldogs’ starting pitcher Lauryn Carranco surrendered five runs on eight hits during her five innings in the circle. The Aggies ended the night with 12 hits against Bulldogs’ pitchers.

These two teams will resume the series tomorrow afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.

The Aggies add another run in the top of the seventh inning to extend their lead to seven.

The Bulldogs trail the Aggies 9-2 and are three outs away from dropping their first conference game of the season.

Similar to the top of the first inning, the Wolf Pack were able to locate Patrick, rattling off three singles in the top of the fourth.

After allowing an RBI single, Head Coach Ryan Overland took to the bullpen bringing in left hander BJ Rodriguez.

Rodriguez inherited runners on first and second with one out.

Brady Hewitt attempted to turn a double-play after securing the out at second base but threw wide of Sotomayor at first, allowing a Wolf Pack runner to score.

Rodriguez was able to strike out the next batter, getting out of the inning.

The Bulldogs’ bats were quiet in the bottom of the fourth.

The Aggies challenged an out call at home plate, but the play was upheld.

The call keeps the Aggies’ lead at three as the Bulldogs try to climb back in this game in the late innings.

The Bulldogs were held scoreless for their fourth straight inning at the end of the fifth inning.

Heading into the top of the sixth, the Bulldogs will have just two more innings to try and cut into the Aggies’ three-run lead.

The bats for both squads cooled off after a four-run first inning.

Tyler Patrick was able to retire the Wolf Pack in order.

The Bulldogs couldn’t get anything going offensively after third baseman Michael Boyd was hit by a pitch.

The Aggies rallied for four runs in the top of the 3rd inning to take a 4-2 lead.

Faith Kroening started the scoring for the Aggies with an RBI single to centerfield. Kaylee Erickson’s first pitch double tied the game at two before the Aggies tied the game with a fielder’s choice from Jazmin Ramirez.

Alex Bunton capped off the scoring with a single to centerfield that scored Erickson.

Aggies lead the Bulldogs 4-2 after the end of the top of the 3rd inning.

The Wolf Pack got after starting pitcher Tyler Patrick in the top of the first inning.

After forcing a double play, Patrick looked poised to get out of the inning unscathed.

On a 3-0 count, Nevada second baseman Junhyuk Kwon launched a two-run home run, opening up the scoring for the Wolf Pack.

Left fielder Lee Matsuzaki followed with a big fly of his own, a solo shot to right field.

Fresno State first baseman Griffen Sotomayor answered with a home run of his own in the bottom of the first. With the bases empty and two outs, Sotomayor launched a solo home run to deep right field.

Sotomayor’s home run was the only hit for the ‘Dogs in the bottom of the first inning.

Nevada leads 3-1 heading into the top of the second inning.

It took just three batters for the Bulldogs to jump out to a 2-0 lead over the Aggies.

Shortstop Emma Martinez opened the inning with a leadoff triple to the right-center gap. She scored on the next play following a throwing error from Aggies catcher Sofia Trejo.

Jamie Hicks knocked in Alyssa Rebolledo to cap off the Dogs’ scoring.
