Fresno State’s Spotlight Events will be hosting a House Cafe event on the second floor of the Resnick Student Union on Feb. 10 from 6-8 p.m. This event is inspired by Tokyo nightlife and will include activities such as fan decorating and Chinese fortunes.
Along with these activities, they will have Japanese jazz and funk music, Japanese snacks and cultural clubs will be present.
There will be a matcha tasting experience provided by Drip Tea Cafe, and the flavors will consist of “Coconut Matcha,” “Matcha Latte” and “Mango Passion Grove Refresher.” This experience will run through a voucher system, where students who attend will receive three drink vouchers to be able to taste test all the different flavors.
Students will also receive one “small bites” voucher, where they will be able to receive a BBQ stick and veggie egg rolls provided by Kiki’s Corner.
At the House Cafe event, they will host a student art gallery where they will show off Asian-inspired canvas paintings, digital prints/illustrations, drawings, posters and graphic design artwork they received. This is a great, low-pressure opportunity for students to be able to showcase their artwork.
All current Fresno State students are encouraged by Spotlight Events to attend the House Cafe, which will be a great way to get involved with the university and celebrate Asian culture.
Their next event will be on Feb. 28 with the theme “Totally 2000s,” taking place at the Satellite Student Union from 7-10 p.m. They will have a live set from a DJ, dirty sodas and airbrushed hats. Students will be encouraged to come in their best 2000s attire.
