Fresno’s ArtHop comes back around on Oct. 16 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. across Fresno. A new venue pops up for ArtHop on Thursday.
ArtHop is an art event program that platforms local Fresno artists and vendors. The event is free to enter and it takes place every first and third Thursday of each month.
“It was pretty rowdy,” said Karina Gantes, a junior majoring in sociology. “It felt like a whole block party to be honest, when I would go.”
What started off as a small art crawl has now become an anticipated art event that features over 40 art venues, according to ArtHop. ArtHop now has become a popular hangout for Fresno State students.
“A lot of people I know, they always hit up the groups chats like ‘hey lets go to ArtHop,’” said Keanu Xayaphonesongkham, a sophomore majoring in psychology. “A lot of alumni I know, a lot of parents and students I know, they do go to ArtHop.”
ArtHop will introduce Clovis Adult Education, a public education program, as their new venue this Thursday. Clovis Adult Education will be performing live music, dance performances and showcase handcrafted art such as pottery and crochet.
River Park’s Art Groove Gallery will also participate in the ArtHop event. The ArtHop at River Park will be its fifth annual cultural unity festival platforming Fresno’s communities and its diversity. Things to expect from ArtHop at River Park include music, poetry, dance and cultural sharing.
Other venues that will be participating in Thursday’s event include the Armenian Museum of Fresno, the Betty Rodriguez Library and BarrelHouse Brewing Co.
The Artist Tree, a California cannabis dispensary that promotes local art, will also participate at ArtHop featuring local artists such as Megan Kutsuris, Amanda Gutierrez and Jamie Roberts.
ArtHop no longer allows food vendors within the main event. Students expressed disapproval as food vendors were one of ArtHop’s main attractions.
“I’ve heard people say it’s not the same anymore,” Gantes said.
Food vendors are allowed to operate outside and around the main event.
