Fresno Chaffee Zoo celebrates the Halloween spirit with ZooBoo and Sniffari Night feature events. Dog owners can bring their furry friends to Sniffari Night on Sunday.
ZooBoo days will take place on Oct. 23-25 from 5-8 p.m. General Admission hours will be open on ZooBoo days from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fresno Chaffee Zoo will close between the hours of 3-5 p.m.
Activities to expect in ZooBoo include magic shows, presentations, trick-or-treating and photo opportunities for the fall season. Fresno Chaffee Zoo encourages participants to dress in family-friendly costumes.
“I think it would uplift Halloween spirits,” said Janeth Rincon, a junior social work major. “I feel like Halloween has become a little dead over the past few years, so that would really help.”
Fresno Chaffee Zoo will enforce a dress code for costumes, which includes no weapons, no scary or gory costumes and no balloons. Inflatable costumes will not be permitted at the giraffe feeding station at Twiga Terrace, but will be permitted everywhere else.
Ticket prices for the ZooBoo events are $22 for adults and $20 for children ages 2 to 11. For members, ticket prices are $18 for adults and $16 for children ages 2 to 11.
Sniffari Night is a ZooBoo special edition that welcomes dogs and their owners to explore the zoo with a Halloween spirit. Sniffari Night will be on Oct. 26 from 5-8 p.m.
“I think that’s really cute,” said Valeria Samano Gomez, a senior psychology major. “You could also make them have [match] your costume as well, I think that would be adorable.”
Activities to expect from Sniffari Night include trick-or-treating, a pooch parade and a chance to win a $100 gift card from Elaine’s Pet Resorts, a pet daycare in the Central Valley.
Participants are more than welcome to dress their dogs in costume. Fresno Chaffee Zoo asks owners to leash their dogs at all times and must be up-to-date for vaccinations such as canine parvovirus and rabies.
Ticket prices for owners during Sniffari Night are the same ticket prices for ZooBoo nights. For dogs, ticket prices are $25 per dog and one dog ticket is allowed per adult ticket.
