Fresno State has placed Professor Barri Brennan on leave after an audio clip began circulating on social media of Brennan during a lecture saying, “It’s too bad he’s not dead” in reaction to hearing that Charlie Kirk had been shot.
The university released an updated statement on Sept. 14:
“Following our earlier statement regarding a video circulating online that appears to capture a Fresno State lecturer making a deeply offensive comment about the death of Charlie Kirk, we want to share an update. The lecturer has been placed on leave effective immediately while we investigate this incident. Fresno State condemns, in the strongest possible terms, any language that celebrates or condones violence. Such remarks are antithetical to our values at Fresno State.”
In the initial statement, the university said it had launched an “immediate investigation” on the issue and condemned “any language that celebrates or condones violence.”
Brennan made the comment during a public speaking class on Wednesday. A student who was present during the class, Lara Habib, shared information with The Collegian.
“It just felt very uncomfortable in the room and none of us really knew what to say,” Habib said. “After that, there were a lot of awkward pauses and people were laughing it off; some people had a blank face.”
Habib said she doesn’t know who recorded the clip and didn’t know that they were being recorded at the time.
“I just feel that it does really set a bad precedent for all the professors here on campus,” she said. “It doesn’t matter what political side you’re on, there is no reason to be condoning political violence.”
Professor Shaynon Scheidt from the College of Sequoias in Visalia has also been placed on leave after he “expressed a wish for Kirk’s entire family line, including his children and grandchildren, to meet the same fate” during a class, according to KMPH.

These evil ghouls need to be permanently removed from learning minds. No excuse.

She should be fired! That’s what’s wrong with our young people. No tolerance and hate filled. Please get rid of her.
