Over $25,000 worth of equipment was stolen from Fresno State’s Department of Athletics last week.
The school’s production team, Bulldog Vision, was targeted on two occasions, once on Friday night and again on Monday night. The trailer that holds the equipment was broken into while it was parked outside the university’s soccer field.
In an interview with CBS47/KSEE24, Brad Blackstone, athletic director of Bulldog Vision, said that the thieves had to jump three to four gates to reach the trailer and then cut the lock off to go inside.
The trailer holds all of the equipment necessary for broadcasting on the Mountain West network and running the video board at sporting events.
“It’s all-encompassing,” Blackstone said to the station. “It’s all of the coaches’ video, it’s highlights, it’s broadcasts, press conferences, interviews, whatever it needs to be.”
Equipment, including new cameras, a laptop, a fiber box, chargers, a microphone and other essential items, is gone, according to Blackstone.
The Collegian reached out to University Communications and athletic administrators for comment and received this statement on behalf of Alma Hernandez, public information officer for the Fresno State Police Department:
“Fresno State Police Department patrol officers continue to conduct patrol checks of the area, and Fresno State PD Detectives are continuing to work with camera operators on possible footage of the thefts,” Hernandez said. “Anyone with information regarding these incidents is encouraged to contact the Fresno State Police Department at 559.278.8400.”
