Students often need quick, affordable meals that fit both their busy schedules and tight budgets.
However, those criteria can hinder that possibility, with many students not being able to eat while on or near campus.
“These past couple days, I bought food, it’s all over $10,” said pre-health major Maria Dominguez. She feels that students who are buying food on campus every day might struggle because spending can add up.
Timing and prices on campus might not always be ideal, but there are food options around campus that help alleviate some of the financial burden.
Here are 11 businesses that offer student discounts near Fresno State.
Bulldog Plaza
This Mexican restaurant serves Fresno State-inspired dishes and authentic Michoacán-style food. Deals include a breakfast burrito served from 7-11 a.m.
At $7.99, it’s made with a homemade tortilla, eggs, beans, cheese, potatoes and meat of choice. Tacos Marquitos also offers the “Bulldog Burrito,” made with almost two pounds of food. Students who show their Bulldog ID card get a free drink with the meal.
“We have always been part of the Fresno State Community,” said manager Jesus Ibarra. Ibarra invites all students to come and enjoy their food, and is always looking for ways to give back.

2. Boba Pub
This tea and boba shop is well known to many students and staff alike. Boba Pub serves a selection of signature drinks such as classic iced teas, milk teas, matchas and more. To help students, a 20% discount is offered on all items, as long as their Bulldog ID is presented.
“We do a lot of partnerships with Fresno State…so it just kind of seemed natural,” said barista Brendon Collins.

3. Halal Bros
A menu packed with a variety of smash burgers, shawarma wraps, gyros, loaded fries and much more, the Bros have a lot to offer. Lasting until Sept. 20, all Fresno State students are welcome to a free drink with any purchase as long as their Bulldog ID is presented.

4. Cream
Serving up all types of sweet treats, this ice cream shop provides many cold classics. A 10% discount is offered to any Fresno State student or faculty member, as long as they show their ID. A majority of Cream’s customers often come from Fresno State, according to assistant manager Bethany McGowan.
“We want to make sure we recognize them and appreciate them,” McGowan said.

Campus Pointe
From cold drinks to hot plates of homestyle cooking with a Mexican flair, Que Pasa offers Fresno State students a 10% discount on any purchase as long as they show their Bulldog ID. General manager Terrance Caldwell knows what it’s like as a college student trying to survive, as he also attended Fresno State.
“When I took over the restaurant, I wanted to look out for the students,” Caldwell said.

With nearly 30 different sandwiches to pick from, there’s love found in each one. Students or faculty from any school in the area are offered a lowered price of $8.98 from 3 p.m. to closing on any sandwich they choose. According to General Manager Evonne Ornelas, any Ike’s location near a college campus will also have the same or similar discounts for students.

7. Cookie Plug
Baked goods have a whole new meaning here, with a style that pops and puck-shaped cookies with unique flavors. Cookie Plug offers a 10% discount to any Fresno State student or staff member if they present their Canvas or ID card.

Your one-stop shop for any Vietnamese cuisine, Lee’s Sandwiches offers Pho to Bahn Mi sandwiches with freshly baked bread and everything in between. This sandwich shop offers a 10% discount to Fresno State students on any item at any time as long as they present their ID.
“I’m an alumni, so I want to support students,” said owner Binh Ly.

9. Maya Cinemas
Campus Pointe’s theater not only hosts all the latest movies, but a few student deals as well.
Thursdays all day, a standard movie with popcorn is only $7 compared to an estimated $25 on any other day. Students are also offered $9.75 for a standard movie after 5 p.m. on any day of the week.

Shaw Avenue
A longtime donut franchise known for its eye-catching, flavorful treats is helping students on Shaw Avenue. A 10% discount is given to all Fresno State students as long as they present their student ID.

Burgers, sandwiches, salads and sides are all part of the very classic yet hefty menu served at Dervos. With any combo, all students are allowed one free drink as long as they show their ID card.
According to shift leader Baudulio Inostroz, this discount has been here as long as they have been open.
“It was so convenient for him and the students; he just wanted to provide something for them,” Inostroz said.
