The Pac-12 continues to grow.
On Aug. 21, the Pac-12 announced that the Dallas Baptist University Patriots will join the conference on July 1, 2026. The Patriots’ bid into the conference brings the total number of Pac-12 teams to 10.
The Patriots’ entry into the conference is similar to Gonzaga University’s as a non-football member, but Dallas Baptist’s baseball team will be the only Pac-12 affiliation the school has. The rest of Dallas Baptist’s athletics will remain in the NCAA Division II Lone Star Conference.
Since the Patriots moved to Division I baseball, they have a 791-414-1 record. They have made 14 NCAA tournament appearances, including 11 consecutive appearances from 2014-2025, and have won two regional championships in 2011 and 2021.
Last season, the Patriots won the Conference USA Championship after a 44-13 regular season record. They finished the regular season ranked No. 25 in the nation.
The Patriots made the 2025 Tucson Regional, where they lost in consecutive games to West Virginia University and Grand Canyon University.
This move adds a seventh baseball team to the Pac-12, as Boise State University, Colorado State University and Utah State University do not sponsor a baseball program.
The Patriots make the Pac-12 one of the top baseball conferences with seven members. Oregon State and Fresno State made the 2025 NCAA tournament, and San Diego State has made six NCAA tournament appearances since 2009.
Unlike in football, there is no minimum number of teams the Pac-12 needs to be considered a full baseball conference. The Patriots should provide tough competition for the Diamond ‘Dogs in the first Pac-12 baseball season in 2027.
