Fresno State’s annual Day of Giving (DOG) fundraiser takes place on March 26 and has moved to the spring semester during I Heart Fresno State Week for the first time since its inception in 2017.
The event is an online day of giving and connecting, according to its website. Alumni, students, faculty, staff and community members are encouraged to support and donate to Fresno State and its programs.
Last year, DOG raised $471,441 from over 1,800 philanthropic partners, called ambassadors.
Ambassadors are asked to give money during the event to participating groups that mean the most to the respective ambassador. The participating groups are, but not limited to, the Athletic Department, the College of Arts and Humanities, the College of Health and Human Services, the College of Science and Mathematics, the Maddy Institute and the Smittcamp Family Honors College. Some donations may be tax deductible.
DOG also invites businesses to match donations based on amount and participating groups. For example, for each ambassador that donates $11,500 to the Veterans Education Program, Bank of America will match that donation.
Ambassadors can also unlock gifts for the groups, allowing for extra money to reveal. The Bulldog Pride Fund unlocks an extra $1,000 for every 10 gifts donated up to $5,000 or the Smittcamp Family Honors College Student Success Fund will unlock $250 up to $1,000 for every 10 gifts donated.
Donors can give as much as they want and to as many departments up to $24,999.
