This story is for April Fools Day. I don’t actually regret coming to Fresno State.
Choosing a college to attend can be one of the most crucial choices in a person’s life. The decision you make will impact your future, determining your career path and the friends you will have for the rest of your life.
With less than two months until I graduate, I am saddened to admit that I made the wrong decision when I chose to attend Fresno State. As a third-generation Bulldog, I always felt like I was forced to go to Fresno State, and if I didn’t, I would be viewed as a disappointment to my family.
Fresno State wasn’t even in my top two choices coming out of high school. Schools such as San Francisco State and San Jose State seemed more appealing at the time and still are to this day.
San Francisco State is by far one of the most beautiful campuses I’ve ever visited. The campus is located on the west side of San Francisco, so any concerns about the city’s downtown crime rates are somewhat irrelevant here.
There are so many beautiful trees and plants, which makes you feel as if you are in the mountains rather than one of the most populated cities in the United States.
The campus is only a short bike ride away from the Pacific Ocean. Obviously, we do not have that in Fresno. The only place nearby where you can go to see a large body of water is the massively overrated Millerton Lake.
The location of San Jose State is also a plus. The campus is located in the heart of downtown San Jose, which means there’s a lot to do in the surrounding area to keep students on or near campus.
Fresno State can’t relate. The best point of interest we have near campus is Campus Pointe. Although Campus Pointe is great, it’s a 30-minute walk for students living on campus.
San Jose State also offers sports journalism classes which would’ve been great for me as someone who aspires to be a sports columnist for The Athletic, whose headquarters are in the Bay Area.
As for parking, both San Francisco State and San Jose State have parking garages, making it more accessible for students to walk to classes.
Parking has always been a top complaint from Fresno State students since pretty much all of the parking lots are far away from classes, except for a few.
As my time winds down as a Bulldog, the only thing on my mind is how I made the wrong decision.
I regret choosing a school that has such a passionate, dedicated sports fan base that allowed me to start my career as a sports journalist.
I can’t believe I chose a school that has such an energetic live English Bulldog mascot.
It’s bizarre to me that I chose a school where everyone in my major cheers for each other’s success.
I feel remorse for choosing a school that has faculty who truly care for their students.
I wholeheartedly regret choosing a school that helped make me the person I am today.
I regret coming to Fresno State.
Lastly, I regret making you believe for a single second that me choosing Fresno State wasn’t the best decision I’ve ever made.
Happy April Fools’ Day! Go ‘Dogs! I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else!

Joke’s on you: Fresno State really is the most hideous campus in the world
I feel so bad for people who have lived in the Valley all their lives and see this beige lifeless expanse of parking lots and dead grass and chain restaurants and think, “Perfect!”
