Fresno State volleyball defeated the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in four sets, 3-1 on Thursday night.

The Bulldogs went through closely contested sets against the Rebels, gaining their fourth away win this season.

The ‘Dogs (14-10) move to 8-5 in conference play and are ranked fifth in the Mountain West. They have five matches left in the regular season.

Fresno State took the first set 25-21, edging the Rebels in back-and-forth action as the lead constantly alternated between both sides.

The Bulldogs continued on the same trend in the second set by the same score, this time coming from behind. Fresno State was down 5-11 but managed to bounce back from a six-point deficit to make it 2-0.

When it seemed like Fresno State was closing in on its second win in three sets against UNLV, the Rebels put up a fight and rallied to win the third set 25-18, forcing a fourth set.

Fresno State fought hard to seal the win in the fourth set. The Rebels held the lead for most of the fourth set, but the Bulldogs turned it around.

Addison Haluska secured the set 25-22 after picking up the match point to secure the victory for the ‘Dogs.

Fresno State was efficient on offense, taking the match despite the Rebels surpassing the Bulldogs in kills, total attacks and assists.

Ella Rud was the team’s best all-around player in the match, picking up 14 kills and 13 digs.

Jenna Legault was another offensive leader who also registered 14 kills for the Bulldogs.

Rud, Dionii Fraga and Brooke Cowie were the defensive leaders as all three players totaled a combined 37 digs.

The Bulldogs will pay a visit to San Diego where they will take on the Aztecs in their next match on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 12:30 p.m.
