Amaya West is February’s Top Dog of the month. The senior guard has been an offensive force for the women’s basketball team this season, averaging 12.6 points per game.

She recently accomplished the biggest individual milestone a player in college basketball can reach, surpassing 1,000 career points.

She set her record on Feb. 18 against the University of Nevada, Reno, at the Save Mart Center. She is the 30th Bulldog in Fresno State women’s basketball history to reach that milestone.

West is very familiar with Nevada as she spent her first four years of her collegiate career with the Wolfpack before transferring to Fresno State last year.

She not only reached 1,000 career points, but also helped the ‘Dogs pull off a turnaround victory against Nevada after trailing the entire game.

She scored nine points in the final four minutes of the game securing the win with two made free throws, and six seconds remaining. She was acknowledged with a ball after the game for her 1,000 career points.
