Students lined up as much as three or four deep to express their opinions to the Campus Fee Advisory Committee about the possible $70 increase to student fees during an hour-long open forum discussion Wednesday.
Students will have another chance to speak their mind about the possible Instructionally Related Activities (IRA) fee increase today, from 4 – 5 p.m. in the University Student Union rooms 312 – 314
During a time when normally only one or two students speak up, six stood up during the Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) meeting this Thursday to air their concerns over the $70 Instructionally Related Activity (IRA) Fee increase, which could still happen despite 65 percent of students voting against it last week.
Because of looming budget cuts, members from Associated Students, Inc. went to Washington, D.C. during spring break to begin talks with Congress in hopes of lowering student fees and preventing financing programs from being cut.
A proposed $312.9 million budget cut to the California State University system could result in a 10 percent student fee increase for the fall 2008 semester.
