Bulldogs set for dogfight in Reno

The Diamond ‘Dogs will look for their second Western Athletic Conference win in a three-game series at Nevada that starts today and ends Sunday. Fresno State (17-20, 1-5 WAC) comes into the series winning two of its previous three games, including one game on the road ”” a 5-3 win at Hawaii for its only conference victory.

For the first time in a decade, San Jose State swept Fresno State in a three-game series. The Bulldogs couldn’t produce a win as they lost their second consecutive Western Athletic Conference series.

Fresno State will put its five-game winning streak on the line against the UC Riverside Highlanders (6-9) today at 6:05 p.m. The three-game series will continue Saturday, also set for 6:05 p.m., and Sunday’s game will be at 2:05 p.m.

‘Dogs down Bakersfield despite wet weather

Rain was the only thing that stopped the Bulldog pitching staff, as it allowed one run in two games to win the weekend series against Cal State Bakersfield. Fresno State climbed back climbed back to one game above .500 with the wins.

The Fresno State baseball team is set to avenge an early season loss to CSU Bakersfield in this weekend’s three-game series that begins today at Beiden Field. The Roadrunners (7-9) shut out the ‘Dogs (8-9), 4-0 back on Feb. 22 and are currently 8-8 all time against the team whose program began in 2009.

Cardinal too much for Bulldogs

The Fresno State Diamond ‘Dogs took the reigns of the opening game of a three-game series on Friday and did something no other team has done this season ”” take down the top-ranked Stanford Cardinal ”” by a score of 7-4. The ‘Dogs, however, were then subsequently beaten back by the Cardinal, losing the final two games of the series, 16-0 on Saturday and 9-2 on Sunday.

Diamond ‘Dogs host No. 1 Stanford

The Fresno State baseball team will host top-ranked Stanford in a three-game series beginning today and ending Sunday. This is the first time the ‘Dogs have hosted a No. 1 seed in nine years, when then-No. 1 Rice made the trip in April 2003.
