The Bulldogs trailed by as much as 13 and led by as much as five, but their comeback bid fell short against the Tritons as they take a 78-73 loss.
Early in the second half, the Bulldogs were able to rally for a 13-2 scoring run that led to them eventually taking their first lead since midway through the first half. However, an 8-0 run from the Tritons with three minutes left was enough to secure them a road victory.
Tritons’ forward Leo Beath had a game-high 22 points, while Jac Mani led the Bulldogs with 21 points off the bench. He also racked up seven rebounds and hit two crucial 3-pointers during a Bulldogs’ 8-0 that Mani scored all the points for.
The Tritons closed the first half on a 22-9 run that put the Bulldogs in a 12-point hole at halftime.
Missed layups cost the Bulldogs late in the game as they had chances to grow their lead during an 0-for-5 shooting drought from the Tritons.
The Bulldogs remain at home and will host Utah Valley this Saturday night with a tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m.
