My life in cookies

By Ben Keller Mar 14, 2008
THE PAIN WAS EXCRUCIATING. I writhed and squirmed, trying to ignore it, but I couldn̢۪t stand it any longer. I needed Ora-gel. 7-Eleven was out of stock, so I had to drive the extra distance to AM/PM. I think I would have crossed several states to alleviate this agony.

Pick up a book!

KIDS THESE DAYS JUST DON̢۪T APPRECIATE a good book. Whether it̢۪s from being burnt out on expensive upper division texts or longwinded seminars with obscure readings, about 42 percent of college graduates plan on never reading a book again, according to a Jenkins Group, Inc. study.

Thumbs up to us. The Collegian won 19 awards from the CCMA this weekend, including first-place awards in Sports-Page Design, Headlines, Infographic, Sports Action Photography, Breaking News Story and Overall Design. Members of The Collegian̢۪s print and online staffs traveled to San Francisco this weekend to attend seminars and pick up our awards. Our feet are tired.

Trivial Obsession

Here in the office of The Collegian, we love “Jeopardy!â€Â At least, I love the show. I’m not sure my colleagues have much more than a passing admiration for the game, but many...

Here lies tasteful mourning

AND THE AWARD FOR THE MOST MORBID invention of the century goes to — Vidstone! What is a Vidstone, you ask? It is a device that flips open to show an LCD screen and looks like a Nintendo...
