Fresno State’s physicality posed many problems for visiting New Mexico State nearly a week ago, and will look to carry that momentum against the Bearkats.

The Fresno State men’s basketball team had its best performance of the season last Saturday in its dominant victory over New Mexico State.

The team will try to carry the momentum of its win into a pseudo Bracketbusters game against Sam Houston State. The game was scheduled as an ESPNU Bracketbusters contest, but because it will not be televised, it is not officially considered a Bracketbuster game.

Fresno State will need another strong performance from Quinton Hosley. The forward has turned out more double-doubles than In-and-Out Burger this season.

The Bulldogs will need to focus on shutting down a Bearkats offense, which is currently shooting more than 45 percent from the field. If Fresno State doesn’t rotate and closeout on the Bearkats outside shooters, then the Bulldogs could be in for a long night. A defensive performance and inside offensive attack similar to last Saturday should give the Bulldogs the win.

The Bearkats will look to stretch the defense with the 3-point shot and forward Aaron Wade is a deadly 3-point shooter when left open. Forward Ryan Bright should also be a scoring force for Sam Houston State. Bright is averaging 14.8 points per game and averaging 8 rebounds per game on the season.
