Gloria shines at Cal Invite

Staff Reports
The Collegian

The Fresno State women’s tennis team now has something to build on after a strong showing at the Cal Winter Invitational in Berkeley.

The Bulldogs were led by its sophomore sensation, Melanie Gloria, whose No. 4 national ranking may soon improve after she trounced No. 3 Suzi Babos of Cal.

Fresno State coach Simon Thibodeau said his team gained confidence from the preseason invitational. The Bulldogs swept a trio of doubles matches against Cal Poly before taking two of five matches from the host Bears.

The Bulldogs open their 2007 dual match season at No. 1 ranked Stanford Jan. 26 before returning home to host San Jose State and Nevada Jan. 28.
