The Fresno State men’s basketball team pulled out a narrow win over Montana State in overtime Saturday night at the Worthington Arena on the Montana State campus.

In overtime the Bulldogs took an immediate 70-67 lead but Montana State quickly struck back with an 8-2 run to take back the lead.

The game ended with a 10-2 Fresno State run that included critical free throws from Quinton Hosley, who had his best game of the season.

Hosley ended the game with a season-high total of 30 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

Dominic McGuire scored 13 points in the course of the game and took a game-high 11 rebounds.

McGuire scored seven of his points in overtime, helping give the Bulldogs the win.

There was some controversy at the end of the game’s regulation time as a Montana player sunk a basket in the last seconds of the game to tie it. Referees on the court appeared to disagree whether the shot had been made before the game-ending buzzer sounded but after a quick conference at half court determined that it was legal.

Because the game was not televised, instant replay was unavailable to officials.

The Fresno State team also encountered some difficulty making it to the game in Bozeman, Mont.
The team was forced to take a bus from Salt Lake City to Bozeman after problems with an aircraft caused the Bulldogs to miss their connecting flight. The ensuing drive took around six hours and the team arrived at its destination around 3 a.m.

The Fresno State men’s basketball team will next play at home this Saturday night against Creighton.
