The Fresno State basketball team is undefeated (4-0) early in the season thanks to a rousing victory over San Francisco on Nov. 17.

The Bulldogs won 86-66 with a game-high 21 points being contributed by junior Dominic McGuire. McGuire also added five rebounds.

Fresno State made 75 percent of its first 12 attempts on 3-pointers and had a game total of 12 from behind the arc. McGuire, Quinton Hosley and Eddie Miller each sank three 3-pointers. Hosley had a total of 19 points and Miller added 11.

Early in the match up the Bulldogs had a 20-8 lead thanks to a 6-for-7 start from the field.

Fresno State’s defense kept the Dons without a field goal for eight and a half minutes in the first half which gave the Bulldogs a 49-26 lead going into halftime.

The Dons’ Manny Quezada and Armondo Surratt had 20 and 16 points, respectively, which kept them to 8 of 23 early in the game and forced the Dons to play a half-court offense. Overall, San Francisco only shot 33 percent and had 18 turnovers.

The Dons came within six in the first half but never made it within 14 following the break, although they did outscore the Bulldogs by three in the second half.

The 20-point victory for the Bulldogs made it the largest margin of victory for Fresno State over the Dons, which have a long-tenured rivalry.

Before this road game the Bulldogs most recently took their home Fresno State Tournament by sweeping the competition during the weekend’s games.

Fresno State will return to action Tuesday for a game with Arkansas-Pine Bluff for an 8 p.m. tip-off.
The Bulldogs will then have a layoff of for a week before hosting the first of two games with Montana State Nov. 29.
