Stating the Obvious...

Thumbs up to the football team for Saturday’s home field victory over New Mexico State. The headline on the Fresno Bee’s Sunday sports section said it all: “Finally.”

Thumbs down to the new my.csufresno.edu online registration system. Now you have to add classes to your “shopping cart” before you can register for them. Are we ever going to get a system that just works?

Thumbs down to Fresno State football coach Pat Hill for opting to keep starting quarterback Tom Brandstater in the game and keeping out Sean Norton. A 23-18 win is nice… but a 50-18 win would have been better. Pat, if you’re so confident in Brandstater’s abilities, why don’t you let him pass when he’s on the field?

Thumbs up to voters for approving Proposition 1D during last week’s midterm elections. The Proposition includes money for future Fresno State construction projects, meaning we get to look forward to more long-term road closures and giant pits being dug in the middle of campus.

Thumbs down to MySpace for distracting the writers of this inane section beyond the patience of the Opinion Editor. I’m not waiting any longer — you people need lives.
