Marcus McCauley is in the spotlight once again. The senior cornerback is among 11 semi-finalists for the Jim Thorpe award for best defensive back. The Thorpe Award winners are recognized for athletic ability, game performance and character.

McCauley has started in 29 consecutive games and has tackles to match for Fresno State. McCauley also leads the ‘Dogs in broken up passes and has two tackles for losses.

Three finalists for the award will be chosen on Nov. 20 and the winner will be announced at the ESPN College Football Awards in December.

Of the finalists, one other contender, Daymeion Hughes, is from California. Last year’s winner, the University of Texas’ Michael Huff, now plays for the Oakland Raiders.
