Stating the Obvious...

Thumbs up to the football team for cleverly testing the mettle of its fans by having the worst win-loss record since 1929. Let’s hope we don’t hear too many crickets chirping in Bulldog Stadium during our next game.

Thumbs up to Borat for being generally hilarious and unafraid of political incorrectness. Those of us who have seen it enjoyed the “movie film” very much.

Several thumbs down to Fresno Bee columnist Donald Munro’s proposal in Sunday’s paper that the university redirect athletic department funding to art, theater and film, making Fresno State a “cultural powerhouse.” We hope he’s joking. Ignoring the practical problems with the idea, do we really want to make Bulldog Stadium the world’s biggest sculpture museum?

Thumbs up to the CSU System for finally observing Veterans Day. We have a feeling that many students will be honoring our veterans by sleeping in.

Thumbs up to Vice President Dick Cheney for announcing that he’ll be going hunting this Election Day for the first time since shooting a friend in the face last February. The question is, will Cheney be hunting quail or Democrats?
