Chocolate Milk: it does a football team good

If you’re looking to give credit to something for the health and well-being of the Fresno State football team, look no further than a glass of chocolate milk.

Fresno State has recently partnered up with California Dairies, Inc. and Producer’s Dairy, who provide Fresno State athletes with chocolate and strawberry milk as a post-workout beverage.

Typically, most schools have chosen to replenish their athletes with more popular drinks, such as Gatorade or Powerade, but that was not an option for the Bulldogs.

“This year when we had a company that had supplied us with nutriment type drinks that a lot of teams use had pulled out on us, the California dairies showed us a lot of facts about milk,” Fresno State head coach Pat Hill said.

Fresno State head strength and conditioning coach Andy Bennett has credited the milk provided by the dairies for the football team’s ability to recover after workouts and for the absence of illness. Bennett said both areas have seen great improvement.

“It’s a natural product right here grown in the central valley,” Hill said. “All of our athletes here drink chocolate milk and it’s really been a great boost for us.”

Hill said he and his staff were surprised at the statistical facts that were provided by the dairies, which have proven that milk is the single best recovery drink following high-intensity workouts.

California Dairies is donating the fresh milk while Producer’s Dairy provides the pasteurization, flavoring and packaging before delivering it to the Ricchiutti Strength and Condition Center.
