The Fresno State men’s golf team took fourth place out of 15 teams at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational in Fairfax Tuesday.

The Bulldogs scored a total of 853 strokes in three rounds while host team California took the title with a score of 826.

Matt Ryan led the Bulldogs’ efforts and tied for third place with rounds of 67, 73 and 70.

The Bulldogs next have a week off but will be back on the road Oct. 23-24 when they compete in San Diego.

Larsen knows defense

Fresno State women’s soccer goalkeeper Angie Larsen has been named WAC Defensive Player of the Week.

The Bulldogs began the season undefeated in conference play when it defeated Nevada 2-0 last weekend.

Larsen was instrumental in the win with five saves, increasing her season total to 71 in 12 games.

Larsen leads the conference in shutouts with eight so far — beating her total of seven last year.
