Ghosts, goblins, witches and pumpkins — pumpkin ice cream that is — are in season at Fresno State as Halloween is just weeks away.
Preparing for the upcoming holidays, the Fresno State Farm Market is promoting its annual pumpkin flavored ice cream.
The Farm Market is opening its doors and its tubs of ice cream to the public on, “Ice Cream Tasting Tuesday.”
Open from 9–6 p.m., any onlooker can enjoy the taste of every ice cream flavor featured at the market on this special day.
Matthew Trexler, a third-year Ag Business student, is also a student assistant at the Fresno State Farm Market.
“It is a student-ran store,” said Trexler of the market, “This is a place where all of the goods are produced, created and sold by Fresno State students.”
Trexler said the ice cream tastings are meant to bring in skeptical patrons to indulge in new tastes and decide if the innovative flavors are for them.
As for the festive pumpkin ice cream, Trexler said, “It is coming close to Halloween and Thanksgiving; that is why we are promoting this flavor throughout the holidays.”
Pumpkin flavor ice cream will be sold all semester, Trexler said.
Since Tuesdays are free sampling days, consumers can purchase a pint of their newfound ice cream for $3.15 or a half of a gallon for $5.40.
The Fresno State Farm Market is open Monday through Friday from 9–6 p.m., Saturdays from 9–4 p.m. and Sundays from 11–4 p.m.
It is located on the corner of Chestnut and Barstow.
