At last, the sounds of the fall

It’s been a quiet summer around the Fresno State campus, but there’s always one sound that is instantly recognizable that puts you right back into “we’re back mode” --— the Fresno State marching band.
No, it’s not because of the goofy tuba guys and their wildly immature antics, nor is it brisk walking movements of the flute player that could pass any drunk driving test with a perfect score.
Instead, that sweet, sweet sound of the marching band means one thing – it’s football season. The goofy antics and brisk walking only adds to the ambiance that surrounds us in the fall.
It only takes one listen to “Fight Varsity,” Fresno State’s official fight song to understand the pageantry that surrounds Bulldogs football.
There’s just something about the combination of instruments and chants that coincide with them that gets some serious adrenaline going.
Picture for a moment standing next to the red mile – the often-feared portion of the walk into Bulldog Stadium where fans bark out “words of encouragement” to the other team — and envision the Bulldogs emerging out of the tunnel to a sea of smoke and sparks.
Got your adrenaline going yet? If not, check your pulse or go back to playing “Dungeons and Dragons.”
Welcome to football season.
No, welcome to the Fresno State football season.
