• The Fresno State soccer team has added a new member to its staff. Head coach Steve Springthorpe announced the hiring of Christine Johnson as an assistant coach.


Johnson previously served as a staff coach for the Douglas County Soccer Association in Lone Tree, Colo.


The Bulldogs are coming off a their first-ever WAC Tournament title and a 10-10-2 record.

Golf


•Laura Luethke and Jason Anthony have both been named WAC Golfers of the Week.


Luethke tied for third at the Oregon Duck Invitational, hitting rounds of 71-74-77, missing the individual playoff by one shot.


Anthony placed seventh in the Arizona National Invitational Tournament last week with an overall 4-under 212 total.


The women’s team will be in action this weekend as they compete at Stanford in the Peg Bernard Invitational Saturday and Sunday.


The men’s team will participate in the Saint Mary’s Invitational April 10-11.

Track


•Bulldog junior Ryan Moore was named WAC Track and Field Athlete of the the Week after his performance at the Cal-Nevada Championships.


Moore was Fresno State’s only first-place finisher on the men’s behalf, winning the 400-meter hurdles in a season-best time of 51.85.


That is the best time in the WAC this year.
