The Fresno State men’s tennis team had a near shut out in a double header versus Saint Mary’s and DePaul, Wednesday.

In singles junior Charles Irie defeated Julien Tiznot in straight sets, while Junior Franz Molina came back from 5-1 to win 7-6 and 6-4 over Alp Ozpinar.

In doubles the Bulldogs won on all three courts with scores of 8-3. Senior Sergiu Modoc who won with senior Sam Gibbs in doubles also beat out Martin Marechal in singles.

In the evening match up with DePaul the Bulldogs cleared the courts 7-0. The Bulldogs won two of three doubles matches and won all six matches in singles.

“It was nice to get two wins today,” said head coach Jay Udwadia.

Udwadia said the doubles teams have improved from last week’s matches, with Irie and freshman Rudolf Siwy winning 8-6, and Gibbs and senior Jordi Ballester winning 8-3.

“The way the guys were competing today, I’m sure they would have been excited to play one more,” Udwadia said.

The Bulldogs next match up is April 2.
