Thank you to all those who voted in favor of the new Student Recreational Center.

Myself and the rest of my fellow classmates are about to be reaping the rewards of it, and with the current regulations in place, you can’t even use it.

It has long been the belief that facilities contribute to the recruitment, development and performance of athletes. For further proof, fly around to colleges such as Oklahoma, Oregon and Miami to see the state of the art everythings inside of the state of the art buildings. You can thank Nike for that, by the way.

That being the case, it looks like the Fresno State intramural program is about to have some of the nation’s most elite talent in sports such as basketball, volleyball, badminton and ping-pong.

Athletes of either of those sports now have all the necessities just a short drive away to what is considered to be a top-flight facility.

There are treadmills and an indoor track for those into endurance sports, weight machines for all muscle groups for both those who want build a physique and those with no self-confidence.

If you still need convincing for why you should go and get fit in the Rec Center, well hear this.

Money talks, I think we could all agree to that. I don’t know about you the last time I broke down my tuition fees, it included a certain amount to the Rec center, so it’s not free.

Among other things, these are some of the reasons that I will use the new Rec Center, along with the rest of the 2006 edition of the Fightin’ Editors basketball team.

And if you haven't heard yet, there is a three-point line at all times, making me at least twice as big a threat for those of you in my division—umm...division three.

But the bottom line is, if you dare to bring yourself down to that level or not, you will be bettering yourself at the new Rec Center.

Now if we could only get the same treatment for the fields sports. I mean come on, every time you step on the field you have to brace yourself up like an offensive lineman in fear of tearing multiple mcl's, acl's or whatever with those potholes lurking with every step.

For the time being however, the Rec Center and all it has to offer will have to do. The freshly polished courts, the futuristic racquetball courts and the rest of the fitness equipment will have to do.

The future of the intramural programs at Fresno State are in good hands not only with AllState, but with the Rec Center as well.

Now, about those softball fields...
