Ethnic graduation preparation underway

Ethnic graduation preparation underway

By ELIZABETH LEFFALL

In keeping the Bulldog tradition of celebrating diversity, coordinators and volunteers are already planning ethnic graduation ceremonies scheduled for May 2005.

The African-American recognition program is expected to take place May 21 at the Save Mart Center from 2-4 p.m.

According to the African-American recognition program Web site, formal graduation pictures will be taken on March 9 and March 10 from 9-11:45 a.m. and from 1-5 p.m.

The graduation application fee is $40 if paid by April 15 and $50 after the deadline.

Frankie Moore, one of the organizers of the African-American recognition program, said she encouraged students to register for the ceremony in large numbers and make the moment memorable.

Dean of the College of Social Sciences, Luz Gonzalez, who serves as the coordinator of the Latino Commencement Ceremonies, said the ceremony is scheduled to take place on May 21 from 6-9 p.m.

Gonzalez said, due to budget cuts, this year’s ceremony will not be held at The Save Mart Center. She said graduating students would be notified about the details of the ceremony through e-mail.

Graduation application fees for the Latino Commenc-ment Ceremony are $35 until April 6. A $10 late fee will be added after the deadline.
