Official university notices to be sent by e-mail in cost reduction effortStudents should be receiving a postcard from Fresno State sometime this week. It may be the last one they ever receive. The postcard announced that Fresno State will no longer send official university notices by mail. Since this past Monday, the university will issue the following only by e-mail to students’ csufresno.edu e-mail accounts: • Registration notices • Add or drop deadlines • Academic probation and disqualification notices • Invoice statements • Disenrollment notices for nonpayment • Financial aid awards and notifications Bernie Vinovrski, vice president of enrollment services, said it will reduce costs for Fresno State. “ We don’t have to send thousands and thousands and thousands of letters all the time,” Vinovrski said. Vinovrski also said the new e-mail policy will help students receive their notices promptly. John Briar, director of campus information systems, said discussion is underway about how much additional disk space will be added to e-mail accounts, “since we’re requiring all students to have and use their csufresno.edu e-mail account,” he said. |
