Heirloom
by Taylor Kellams, Arts & Entertainment Editor
This menu is almost overwhelming — in the best way possible. Every time I look at it, I always discover something new. I really appreciate that they source from local vendors because it makes everything feel so intentional and fresh. The seasonal rotation of food and drinks keeps things exciting so it never feels repetitive. What stands out the most is the inclusivity of the menu. No matter your dietary restrictions or allergies, there are plenty of options that don’t feel like an afterthought. It’s clear that they’ve put real care and attention into making sure everyone can find something they genuinely enjoy. The atmosphere pulls me in as much as the food does. It strikes this perfect balance between cozy and modern, where I can either settle in and relax or catch up with friends without feeling rushed. And the patio is easily my favorite part- its charming, comfortable and the kind of space that makes you want to stay a little longer.

The Berrock Shop
by Josiah Poynter, Managing Editor
There’s not a lot of things that can top a really good burger. The Berrock Shop is my favorite burger I’ve ever had; it’s juicy, big, filling and fresh. It’s so easy to go get a run-of-the-mill burger from McDonald’s or Wendy’s, but nothing matches the comfort that is biting into a Berrock Shop burger. I would say that the Berrock Shop specializes in giving you food that makes any day better. I’m personally not from Fresno, but the shop always makes me feel right at home and so does their food. They also have other homemade options like pasta, macaroni and potato salads along with chicken potpies and homemade desserts. It really feels like everyone that goes in there has been going there since it opened in the ‘70s and that everyone in there cares about your experience while you’re in there. Speaking of the service, it’s top-tier. Not only are they kind and patient, but I never have waited more than a few minutes for my food even during rush hour. My go-to order is a double bacon cheeseburger with fries and an unsweetened ice tea with a side of macaroni salad.

Ichiban Ramen & Poki
by Anahid Valencia, Campus News Editor
I’ve never been much of a pho or ramen girl — until I tried this place. Not only is the atmosphere incredible, with wall murals and the sun always managing to illuminate its details, but the pho is truly mind-blowing. I get the spicy miso broth with chicken and pho noodles, which always manages to cheer me up, even after the most horrid of days. And, not to mention, it’s right by Fresno State. Late nights at the office with a bowl of take-out pho absolutely hate to see me coming.

The Annex Kitchen
by Olivia Pavao, Lifestyle Editor
This Italian restaurant is perfect for a date night or a nice night out with friends. I recommend the crispy risotto arancini balls and the truffle fries with garlic aioli to start your meal off. The restaurant makes their pasta noodles and pizza dough in house daily. The chef operates on a seasonal rotating menu, and his summer specials are my personal favorites. They often special different versions of agnolotti pasta, but their sweet corn variant is peak. Paired with the summer margherita, you can’t go wrong. Their drink menu is handcrafted with a mix of California wineries and craft cocktails inspired by the Amalfi coast. Don’t skip dessert — the entire selection of sweets is to die for, but the chocolate budino is a must-have.

Piemonte’s
by Isaac Marquez, Editor-in-Chief
Tower District is home to a ton of good spots to eat. But when I’m down there covering a story or just hanging out, Piemonte’s is my go-to. I’m not one for Italian sandwiches, but Piemonte’s has some bombalicious food options. From hot to cold deli options, I haven’t had a bad experience. I love the atmosphere of the place too. I’ve never been to a New York bodega, but I imagine it’s somewhere along the lines of Piemonte’s. Even their non-sandwich options hit the spot. They have a few pastas that are scrumptious when you’re not in the mood for the Piemonte’s special, which is a dry & cooked salami, ham, mortadella and provolone cheese sandwich. All in all, if you find yourself in Tower looking for a quick bite, Piemonte’s is a great spot.
