The Fresno State men’s basketball team returned to the Save Mart Center to take on the third-best team in the Mountain West, the New Mexico Lobos.
The Bulldogs have an opportunity to tie the all-time series record with the Lobos. Saturday’s matchup is the 44th meeting between the Lobos and the Bulldogs with the Lobos leading the series 22-21.
The ‘Dogs shot efficiently in the first half, shooting 62% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc.
The Bulldogs never trailed through the first 20 minutes of action.
The Lobos’ offense came alive in the second half, outscoring the ‘Dogs 48-34.
Despite a 12-point lead at halftime, the Bulldogs could not hang on for the win.
Jake Heidbreder made his return to the court, leading the ‘Dogs with 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field.
