Week 2 of the NFL season is in the books. Davante Adams scored his first touchdown as a member of the Los Angeles Rams. Nikko Remigio got his first reception of the season.
Adams scores his first Rams touchdown
Wide receiver Davante Adams helped lead the Rams to a 33-19 road win over the Tennessee Titans this week. He had six catches for 106 yards and one touchdown. This touchdown was his first one as a Ram.
The performance would put Davante over 12,000 receiving yards in his career. The former Bulldog is now 32nd all-time in receiving yards and is only 60 yards behind Derrick Mason.
One of Adams’ catches was a diving catch over the middle for 19 yards. He also had a difficult sideline catch, which set the Rams up to throw it to him again. This time he would catch a 16-yard touchdown.
Adams and the (2-0) Rams will be on the road in Week 3 to face the defending Super Bowl champion, the (2-0) Philadelphia Eagles.
Remigio reels in first reception of the season
Wide receiver Nikko Remigio and the Kansas City Chiefs had a Super Bowl rematch against the Eagles and lost 20-17. Nikko was receiving punts and kicks again, but he did spend time with the offense, too.
Nikko received two kicks for a total of 42 yards and two punts for 42 yards. He also had one reception for 21 yards.
The Chiefs did bring in a new kick returner once they started using Remigio on offense, which could mean more time as a receiver and more opportunities for targets in Week 3.
Wide receiver Xavier Worthy could come back, but he has a high risk of re-injuring himself and most likely will be wearing a harness for his shoulder.
The last time the Chiefs started 0-2 was 2014; the Chiefs would go 9-7 and miss the playoffs. The Chiefs will head to New York to play the (0-2) Giants on Sunday night.
Green Bay’s defense keeps getting stronger
The Green Bay Packers strong defense has a ‘Dog among them.
Defensive back Evan Williams, who spent four years with the Bulldogs before going to the University of Oregon, helped the Packers secure their second win of the season.
He had five tackles — two solo, three assisted. Those five tackles would tie him for the third most on his team. Williams and the Packers defense would hold the Washington Commanders to 18 points, giving the Packers a 27-18 win.
Williams and the Packers next head to Cleveland to take on the (0-2) Browns.
Dallas secondary struggles with no Bland
Defensive back Daron Bland did not play this week due to a foot injury, but the Cowboys still beat the New York Giants in an overtime shootout. The final score was 40-37.
The Cowboys secondary struggled without Bland and gave up 450 yards to Russell Wilson. Malik Nabers went for 167 yards and two touchdowns. Wan’Dale Robinson had 142 yards and one touchdown.
In Week 3, the (1-1) Cowboys will go on the road to face the (0-2) Chicago Bears. Bland will miss the game and is a long shot to be ready for Week 4.
Other ‘Dogs around the league
Jake Haener, Ronnie Rivers, Dean Clark and Jordan Mims are still listed as first-string players on their practice squads. Levelle Bailey was elevated to a first-string practice squad player for the Denver Broncos after being third-string last week.
