For some time now, The Collegian has offered an expressive outlet to students, faculty and, really, anybody who had the desire, called a Letter to the Editor.
However, the Bulldog has a new bark.
Letter to the Editor is now officially rebranded as “Bark Back” for the start of the 2025-26 school year. It serves the same purpose, just new, improved and with much more to give.
The letters were a part of the opinion section of The Collegian that allowed individuals to express an original opinion of their own or push back on a story that had already been published.
Letters to the Editor went directly to the opinion editor, who is responsible for working with the individual who submitted the letter on crafting a strong and impactful submission. When I took over as opinion editor, one thing I really noticed was the lack of entries people were sending us.
The concept is important to maintain at The Collegian, so I decided it was time for a revamp.
The Collegian is read by people of various ages, occupations, places and interests. However, our primary purpose is to provide the students of Fresno State with compelling stories that offer them the truth, information that matters to them and a place to share their opinions freely.
Have you read a story of ours that doesn’t sit right with you, or have another perspective you want to offer? Bark Back. Do you have an opinion about something you’re passionate about and are dying to share? Bark Back.
Your voice matters to us at The Collegian, and we want to hear what you have to say.
Bark Back will be accessible through an embedded link three-fourths of the way down in every opinion story published by us. Simply click on the “Bark Back” graphic, and it will take you exactly where you need to go to submit a letter. There is also a Bark Back button at the top of the website next to the four main news, sports, lifestyle and opinion sections.
We encourage people to speak up about things they’re eager to make public. The best part about Bark Back is that it has no limits; it doesn’t matter who you are.
From campus issues to a traveling comedian, the possibilities of stories are endless.
Let that bark be heard, Bulldogs!
