The NFL season is less than a week away, with the first game being a Thursday Night Football matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the reigning champion Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 4.
As teams around the league get set for their quest for the Lombardi trophy, every team had to prepare by trimming their respective teams down to a 53-man roster by Tuesday, Aug. 26.
Some former Fresno State Bulldogs remain starters, some were waived from rosters and others signed practice squad deals.
Here’s an update on where each former ‘Dog stands heading into the season.
Davante Adams set for year 12
The 32-year-old wide receiver is set to make his Los Angeles debut on Sept. 7 when the Rams face the Houston Texans at SoFi Stadium.
After being released by the Jets following the end of last season, Adams signed a two-year deal with the Rams in March.
Last season, Adams started the year with the Las Vegas Raiders before being traded to the New York Jets in October. Having played three games in Las Vegas and 11 in New York, Adams was able to eclipse the 1000-yard receiving mark and also brought in eight receiving touchdowns.
In his 11 years in the NFL, Adams has reeled in 957 catches for 11,844 receiving yards and 103 receiving touchdowns.
Bulldogs in Green Bay
The Green Bay Packers have two former Bulldogs within the organization.
Defensive end Arron Mosby was waived by Green Bay on Aug. 26 and signed to the Packers’ practice squad the next day.
Defensive back Evan Williams spent four years at Fresno State before transferring to the University of Oregon for one season. In 13 games with the Packers last season, Williams finished the year with 49 total tackles, one forced fumble and one interception. Williams heads into his sophomore season as a starter in the Packers’ secondary.
Former ‘Dogs in Dallas
Defensive back DaRon Bland is entering his fourth year in the NFL.
The leader in interceptions from 2023 followed up his historical season with an injury-plagued 2024 campaign.
Bland required surgery for a stress fracture in his foot which he sustained in August 2024. A setback during his rehabilitation forced Bland to stay out until November. He finished the year having only played seven games.
Wide receiver Jalen Moreno-Cropper did not make the 53-man roster but was signed to the Cowboys’ practice squad on Wednesday.
Last season, Moreno-Cropper spent most of his year on the practice squad but was elevated for a Week 10 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Other ‘Dogs around the league
Nikko Remigio made the Kansas City Chiefs’ 53-man roster. Remigio found a spot on the Chiefs roster last season as a return man, including a timely 44-yard punt return in the first half of the AFC Championship against the Buffalo Bills on Jan. 26. In the 2025 Super Bowl Super Bowl 59, Remigio returned three kickoffs for a total of 84 yards.
Wide receiver Mac Dalena was waived by the Chiefs but can sign to their practice squad in the future.
Defensive back Dean Clark was waived by the New York Jets before being signed to the practice squad. In three preseason games, Clark totaled nine tackles and an interception.
