Just five minutes east of Fresno State on Highway 168, an unidentified man jumped to his death, according to Clovis Police.
The man, estimated to be in his 30s, jumped off of the Fowler exit overpass approximately three hours ago. Police say they received calls from people reporting that the man was disrupting traffic off of Herndon and Fowler Avenues.

Police arrived at the scene, where the man died after failed CPR attempts.
The freeway was blocked off just before the Fowler exit and cars were forced to exit immediately.
Corporal Russell Moring, a Clovis police officer, gave a statement to The Collegian at the scene regarding the incident.
“Tonight officers responded to the intersection of Herndon and Fowler at approximately 6:05 p.m. for multiple 911 reports of a male running through traffic and making suicidal statements,” Moring said.
Officers are facilitating the scene and expect to have clearance soon.
“It’s in the final stages of the investigation, so hopefully within the next hour the freeway will be back open,” Moring said. “Right now traffic is very affected, especially on Highway 168 eastbound, but with the assistance of CHP and CalTrans, we’re able to facilitate a lot of roadblocks.”
At this time, the man’s reasoning and mental state are unknown.
“Thankfully, there were no vehicles that were impacted with the male who decided to jump, no other people were involved in this,” Moring said.
More information will be available in the coming days as the investigation persists.
