Fresno State football Head Coach Jeff Tedford has stepped away from his position effective immediately due to health concerns. The development was announced Friday by Terry Tumey, director of athletics, via social media.
Chris Vannini of The Athletic shared on X, formerly known as Twitter to clarify Tedford’s absence.
To clarify, Jeff Tedford stepping away at Fresno State through the bowl game is temporary. He remains the head coach.

Tedford will not attend the 2023 bowl game. Instead, assistant head coach and linebacker coach Tim Skipper will serve as head coach to end the season.
Tedford previously stepped away from head coaching duties following the 2019 season due to health concerns before returning as head coach in 2022.
Fresno State remians bowl eligible and the schedule is set to be released on Sunday, Dec. 3.
